Welcome to the blog of Dr Brooke Kalanick where you’ll find endless ways to be healthier and look and feel better. Dr Brooke is a naturopathic physician who specializes in fat loss, PCOS, hypothyroidism, skincare, women’s health and fertility.  Her clients are men and women from all walks of life, but in her Manhattan practice she mostly caters to the typical busy person  who’s trying to do it all and somehow be healthy and fit too.

Dr Brooke is partnered with Joe Dowdell of NYC’s Peak Performance and AOL’s That’s Fit through a lifestyle and fitness company called Hardware – Tools for the Ultimate You.  Their first book, Ultimate You: Total Body Makeover for Women Who Want Maximum Results (Rodale, May 2010), lays out a 16 week program complete with 4 months of workouts and a step by step nutrition and lifestyle plan to get your hormones (and you) whipped into shape.

Dr Brooke’s advice focuses on fat loss vs. weight loss; quality of a calorie vs. the number of calories; the hormonal effect of food; smart exercise vs. more or longer exercise; and a holistic take on nutrition. It is easy to get overwhelmed trying to eat well, exercise, get enough sleep, take your vitamins, drink enough water, do well at your job, have relationships, and do your laundry. Never mind when life throws you a curveball like the flu, a breakup, a car in the shop, changing jobs, a new baby or all of life’s other trauma and drama.     Hello Dr. Brooke,
    Thanks for this insightful article. I will be sharing your blog with my clients who are about to embark on a 28 day healthy lifestyle program. I was looking for additional resources for them to tap into and will be sending them your way. Our PhD Nutritionist has authored much of the program and I have added a 28 day Vegan alternative. Happy New Year
